Don't you just love being around people who's second language is kindness?
It's free, you know.
When I set out to be my kind self for a day, all the good stuff happens. I have a bitchy side for sure and sometimes that feels good.
Kindness feels better. When I started dating my now partner, I noticed how he would reward kindness. I'd watch burger joint drive through staff delight at a $20 bill to split with their busy and pleasant staff. When he gives money to people with their help needed signs on the road, he always asks how they are doing. He makes connections and treats others as human beings. I made an embroidered banner in his honor " kindness is the new sexy". For a girl who ended up with bad boys in the past, it feels great to be partnered with a giver.
Journal Activity:
*Free write about kindnesses you've witnessed in the past little while.
*Free write about your own kindness.
Art Activity:
Think about something you can make for someone you know or even a stranger. This might be something you already do regularly. If it is, then this activity won't be hard. If it's not, you might have to do some planning.
"Random Acts of Cardness"
Make a collection of greeting cards Once you spend an hour or two decorating a few folded pieces of cardstock - the rest is easy. If you have addresses, mail them. Today! If you have a place to surprise people at their desk, at your bank, your medical staff, your students, your teachers. Grandparents love mail.
Here is where you can use your imagination and gather things you already have at home.
*Card stock (or other heavy paper)
* markers, scissors, glue
*magazines, catalogs, junk mail and calendars to cut images from
*envelopes
1. Fold and cut your paper to fit the envelopes you have. If you don't have "card sized" envelopes, consider just making post cards.
2. Decorate the front of each card with a collage of cut out images, stickers and mark making
Think free flow doodling within the confines of a card front.
3. It is helpful to stack finished and dried cards under some books or other weight for a big.
4. Stick addresses on your envelopes and stuff with finished and dried cards. Ready to mail or hand out.
You could come to love this activity so much, it becomes a part of you. I think of it as some balance between digital and analog world. Easy to send virtual greetings. Easy on the soul to send homemade greetings.
*enjoy this collage card making tutorial I found on youtube.

I love Day 3! "BE KIND"! I truly want to incorporate the card practice into my way of sharing...and passing smiles along. What a wonderful way to JAM!
