My super special virtual information sheet saving trees EVERYwhere + my new favorite (vintage) stitch diagram sheet.

Thank you for choosing Wild Threads Flow Stitch Kit

Where holistic art meets sustainable craft.

Your Flow Stitch SAC comes with a hand drawn and painted patch with basic thread colors and needle. You may stitch as simple or fancy as you like. The Flow Stitch patches are designed for beginners and experienced stitchers. There is space to finish with just an outline and a few basic stitches or experiment with some advanced stitches.

I encourage you to follow guidelines as needed, but find your own intuition and flow as you become more comfortable.

Hi, my name is Tori - I have used embroidery as meditation before I even knew what meditation was.

I am happy to guide you into your own stitch practice where my hope is you will find some of the same joy and confidence that I have found. It takes a while sometimes, right?

I”m a hoopless stitcher - less cumbersome and more free, so I’ve added a backing to the patch for stability while you stitch instead of a hoop. Should you choose to put your patch in a hoop, you can easily find a size to fit at your local craft, fabric or box store.

Like many holistic practices, the intention of WILD Threads is to give simple guidelines and allow you, the practitioner, to find your own way and develop your own practice.

You are a google search away from finding a tutorial on just about any stitch or you can go to www.torisjamcamp.com and find a stitch tutorial library.

Basic Guidelines

+Gather your materials: printed fabric patch, needles/pin cushion, floss, scissors.

+Choose your starting place. I like to go from the middle to the outside or from top to bottom to avoid puckering

+Cut a piece of floss an arm’s length (12” - 18 “) and run your fingernail along the floss to “condition” before   separating.

+Begin with one strand at a time as you learn how thin or thick you want your stitches to be. Take one of the six strands and hold it with the fingers of one hand as you pull away the other five strands with the other hand. You will avoid a lot of frustration by separating strands one at a time.

+Thread your needle with the strand of thread and pull it through the needle. You’re making a double strand, so fold your strand to match both ends and the needle in the middle. Condition again with your nail from the needle down to the doubled end where you will tie a square knot to anchor your first stitch.

+ How you stitch your patch is up to you. You may use the suggested finishing below or finish your patch your own way. It might help you to know that you might only need to follow basic guidelines in the beginning. Finding your own way is part of the joy!

+ Relax, smile. You will figure out your own rhythm and helpful supplies and tricks as you go along. Try to not be too fussy at first. Mistakes are either lessons or your next great idea!

Suggested Finishing

+Outline the entire design using a back stitch or whipped back stitch. You can choose the color of the outlines or make up your own color way.. Choose the amount of floss strands you use based on what kind of definition you want but a two stranded whipped back stitch is a nice start.

+Play with spaces inside and outside the lines by using basic stitches in your chosen colors.

For example: Fill in a flower center with seed stitches or satin stitch a heart. Stitching outside the lines is also encouraged.
